Transport Subsidy Update
Drought transport subsidies administered by the RAA have been updated by the NSW government. The details are as follows:
The transport of chemicals (>100L), fertiliser (>1t) and seed (>1t) can now be claimed in addition to livestock (>70 DSE), fodder (>1t) and water (>1,000L) cartage on invoices dated 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
50% of the cost of transport can be claimed with a maximum rate of $3.75/km for B-Doubles or larger.
The cap on rebates has been increased to $50,000. Those who received subsidies in the 2018-2019 financial year are eligible to apply for another $50,000 in the 2019-2020 financial year.
Owner carriers can also claim a transport subsidy using commercial transport rates.
Invoices for products which do not specify transport costs, will need to be reissued with the transport cost itemised.
Growers who have not already made an application on invoices dated 1 January 2018 to 30 June 2019, can still do so on invoices for livestock, water and fodder transport.
The business needs to have been impacted by drought at some stage since January 2018.
Applicants who have over $5 million in off-farm investments (excluding superannuation) will be ineligible.
All applications will need to be submitted by 30 September 2020.
The simple application process involves completing a four page form and attaching the latest LLS rates notice plus the invoices being claimed. All invoices can be claimed with the one application.
