The incidence of ryegrass and wild oat resistance to Clethodim (Status) herbicide has become increasingly common. In order to prolong the life of Clethodim, correct application is paramount. The following guidelines are likely to lead to the most successful result from Clethodim application:

  • Apply using a medium droplet (200 to 300 VMD)

  • Apply to small (pre tillering) actively growing weeds

  • Apply 75 L/ha water volume. Use higher water rates for dense populations or where stubble cover or crop canopy may shade weeds

  • Apply with the higher rate of adjuvant (1%) for hard to kill populations

  • Avoid mixing with Triazine herbicides

  • Where mixing with Triazine herbicides is unavoidable, add 1% Ammonium Sulphate and use 1% Uptake or Hasten Oil

  • Avoid application after heavy frosts

  • Do not apply to weeds stressed from dry or disease

  • Do not apply with air induction nozzles that produce a coarse droplet

  • Do not apply high rates late in the season or to stressed crops
