Wool Market Update (September 2015)

The following graph shows the AWEX Eastern Market indicator (EMI) in cents per kilogram clean, from August 2009 to date.

Predictably prices eased after the peak of 1,373 c/kg during June and have been volatile since. However, current prices are still strong relative to historical values, providing a welcome income bonus for mixed farming operations.

Currently the AWEX EMI is at 1,234 c/kg clean.  This should result in net average returns to many clients with Merino clips, of around $7.30/kg greasy, resulting in returns of $44/head net for sheep cutting 6.0 kg/head greasy.
