Wool Market Update (April 2015)

The following graph shows the AWEX Eastern Market indicator (EMI) in cents per kilogram clean, from August 2009 to date.

During early 2015, the indicator price has strengthened and is now above the highest prices achieved during 2014.

At these price levels, wool has been a profitable enterprise for those growers producing above average wool cuts per hectare.

Currently the AWEX EMI is at 1,106 c/kg clean.  This should result in net average returns to many clients with Merino clips, of around $6.70/kg greasy, resulting in returns of $40/head net for sheep cutting 6.0 kg/head greasy.
